Google opens up to criticism
Google Vice President Josh Woodward asked on X: "What surprises you that Gemini still doesn't do well and should have been fixed long ago?" Within a short time, over 1,700 responses came in. Woodward then published a list of the ten most common requests and Google's response to them.
Gemini's biggest pain points
The most frequent complaint concerned unreliable integration with Google Workspace. Gemini Spark has received improvements, but according to Woodward, reliability across all apps—Gmail, Docs, Slides, Keep, and Tasks—needs significant improvement.
The second most requested improvement is more reliable tool calling. Google agrees and promises noticeable improvement soon, though without an exact timeline.
Third place goes to chat organization. Users want better folders and projects. Google admits that Notebooks are only a first step and plans to overhaul the entire environment.
Other requests on the list
- Deep Research: export results to NotebookLM and the ability to switch between Deep Research and Flash/Pro models within a single chat. Woodward called these ideas good.
- MCP Extension and Custom Skills – early support.
- Message editing – already in development.
- Voice dictation accuracy – priority, Woodward plans to review specific posts.
- Scrolling bugs in the mobile app – fix confirmed.
One area where Google will not budge is protection against celebrity deepfakes. Woodward stated that these rules will remain in place.
Google assures that most improvements are in various stages of development and users can look forward to early changes. If you have encountered a problem not on the list, it may appear in the next round of feedback.
